Location

  • Gore Creek, beginning at the mouth of Black Gore Creek through the Vail Golf Course
  • approximately 4 miles of stream
  • hot spot – the creek at the East Vail exit

The Issue

  • highly impaired aquatic insect colonies indicating human-caused stresses to the creek
  • stormwater management
  • potential listing of Gore Creek by the state as a 303(d) "impaired" waterway

The Project

  • identify potential impacts to the creek
  • conduct assessment of landowners and managers to determine common management practices
  • draft plan addressing impacts
  • implement plan
