The Eagle River Coalition’s monitoring efforts provide data and context that guides everything else that we do. Much like you can’t fix what you don’t know is broken, we can’t create impactful, effective solutions to problems until we know they exist. Our water quality monitoring helps uncover threats and concerns so that we can develop a plan to resolve them.

Our rivers and streams face threats of many kinds – from development and pollution to climate change and drought. Protecting the high-quality natural, scenic and economic values that they provide is critical for our community and an integral part of our mission. The Eagle River Coalition acts as the voice of our rivers and streams through a variety of methods to protect our watershed from threats.

Here in Eagle County, we are surrounded by opportunities to enjoy the offerings of the watershed. The decisions we make, from policy to development, have impacts on the environment and ecosystems that protect water quality and quantity locally and on areas that depend on these water resources. The Eagle River Coalition’s community education programming helps us work toward our mission to keep local rivers, streams and wildlife healthy.

Although we strive to advocate and educate the community about river health so as to avoid impacts, problems do sometimes arise making restoration efforts necessary. We work hard to mitigate threats to water quality, improve damaged riparian and aquatic ecosystems and coordinate projects that protect the natural values that give this region its identity.
